The Nazi German extermination camp in Bełżec. History and relics
The exhibition "The Nazi German extermination camp in Bełżec. History and relics" aims to show the tragedy of this place in the light of archaeological excavations.
It consists of ten panels that tell the story of the SS-Sonderkomando Belzec - as the camp was officially named. It presents photographs of the artefacts recovered during the archaeological excavations that preceded the construction of the new memorial and museum complex. The artefacts are shown in the context of various aspects of the functioning of the extermination camp, where around 500,000 Jews lost their lives.
