70th anniversary of operation „Erntefest”

On November 3, the 70th anniversary of operation "Erntefest” was observed that was the biggest execution by firing squad in the history of the German concentration camps, known as Bloody Wednesday. It resulted in death of over 18 thousand Jews. Tribute to the murdered was paidat the foot of the obelisk next to the Mausoleum.
As part ofthe commemoration of the 70th anniversary of operation „Erntefest,” the State Museum at Majdanek issued a book entitled „Krwawa środa. 3 listopada 1943 w pamięci świadków” [Bloody Wednesday. October 3, 1943, in the Memory of the Witnesses]. It is an anthology of memoirs by witnesses and survivors, which were selected and edited by Beata Siwek-Ciupakand Kamila Czuryszkiewicz. The promotion of the publication will be held in theŁopaciński Voivodship Libraryon November 7 at 5 p.m. We cordially invite.
