To commemorate the Polish political prisoners deported from Pawiak prison to KL Lublin, the Museum organised a meeting on 16th January. It was devoted to Danuta Brzosko-Mędryk, the former prisoner of Pawiak prison and KL Lublin, brought to Majdanek in the first transport of political prisoners from Warsaw on 18th January 1943.
The character of Danuta was introduced to the audience by the head of the Pawiak Prison Museum Joanna Gierczyńska, whereas director Andrzej Kałuszko told about his work on the movie “Egzamin dojrzałości” which was shown at the meeting. After the screening, Zdzisław Badio – the former prisoner of Majdanek and Danuta's associate of many years in the Society for the Protection of Majdanek – delivered his speech. Afterwards the participants to the meeting had an opportunity to watch the footage in which Danuta Brzosko-Mędryk gives an account of her being in KL Lublin.
At the end of the second part, a touching surprise awaited the participants – the organizers of the meeting contacted Danuta Brzosko-Mędryk by phone and she personally sent her regards to everyone present in the room.
The meeting ended with the participants seeing the exhibition titled “Prisoners of Majdanek” in barracks number 62, which tells the story of the camp from the view of the people who were sent there, including the account by Danuta Brzosko-Mędryk.
