78th anniversary of Roma and Sinti extermination in the labour camp Bełżec
On October 26, 2018, in Bełżec, celebrations commemorating Roma and Sinti, victims of German labour camp Bełżec of 1940, took place.
During the celebrations organised by the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec, a tribute to murdered was paid by the monument situated next to mass graves from 1940.
Then in the primary school in Bełżec invited guests and students to listen to a lecture by Agnieszka Caban – Romani activist and director of the Dialogue of Cultures Museum in Kielce. During the lecture entitled ‘History of Romani population in the Lublin region’ they could learn about ethnic Romani groups living in this region, the most important traditions and customs of the Roma and about famous representatives of this community coming from the region around Lublin.
