“Chroniclers of inhuman times” – educational classes in the Pedagogical Library in Tomaszów Lubelski

The exhibition “Res non humana – an inhuman thing. Nazi occupation of the Zamość region between 1939-1944” presented on 7-30 of November 2017 in the reading room of the Pedagogical Library in Tomaszów Lubelski was accompanied by educational classes organized for the youth.

The workshops “Chroniclers of inhuman times” were carried out by Jarosław Joniec, co-author of the script and an exhibit curator. During the classes, students could get to know the problem that was raised by the exhibition and then they worked with source materials of “Chroniclers of inhuman times” independently. Some extracts of the texts were chosen for the conduction of classes, including one written by Janusz Peter, Ph. D., concerning the conditions prevailing in a labour camp in Bełżec in 1940. The extract from the diary of Stanisław Pojaska, Ph. D., is on German pacification in the village of Sochy which took place on 1 June 1943 and the fragment from the diary of Zygmunt Klukowski, Ph. D., relating to partisans who acted in the neighbourhood of Szczebrzeszyn.

Students of W. Sikorski School Complex No. 2 (on 9 November), J. Piłsudski Primary School No. 2 and Orląt Lwowskich Primary School No. 1 (on 28 and 30 November) in Tomaszów Lubelski participated in the workshops.

Around 90 students took part in the workshops “Chroniclers of inhuman times” conducted in the Pedagogical Library in Tomaszów Lubelski.
