Commemoration ceremony for Roma and Sinti, victims of the 1940 Belzec labor camp.
On October 26, a ceremony was held at the Belzec site to commemorate the Roma and Sinti victims of the 1940 Belzec labor camp.
The event was organized by the Belzec Museum and Memorial Site. It was attended by young people from high schools in Oleszyce and Chełmec near Nowy Sącz. During it, participants paid tribute to the murdered, at a monument built near the graves of Roma victims of the labor camp.
While at the museum, the young people learned about the history of the labor camp and the extermination camp, and were introduced to the symbolism of the monument to the Belzec Museum and Memorial.
Students from Oleszyce met online with Ms. Agnieszka Caban, who professionally popularizes knowledge of Roma culture and history.
The event took place on the 10th anniversary of the unveiling of the monument, built as part of the "Program for the Roma community in Poland," carried out jointly by the Belzec MMP, the Belzec Municipality and the Ministry of Administration and Digitization.
