Osiem referatów, panel dyskusyjny i oddanie hołdu ofiarom obozu zagłady w Bełżcu. 10. rocznicę powstania Muzeum – Miejsca Pamięci w Bełżcu upamiętni konferencja naukowa pt. „Sztuka pamięci. Rzeźba pomnikowa w miejscach Zagłady w Polsce”. Odbędzie się ona 3 czerwca 2014 roku w siedzibie MMPB, gdzie znajduje się jeden z najbardziej poruszających pomników Zagłady w Europie.

The organized conference attempts to answer questions concerning meaning, symbolism, reception, and influence of commemorations located in the post-camp areas. The speakers will discuss the art in the post-camp areas and monuments erected on the grounds of the former German camps at Majdanek, in Treblinka, Auschwitz-Birkenau and Bełżec. The conference will be wrapped up with a discussion entitled “Monuments on Holocaust Sites as Components of Museum Narratives.” The event is held under the patronage of the Lubelskie Province Governor and the Marshal of the Lubelskie Voivodship. The Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec was founded on June 3, 2004, as a branch of the Sate Museum at Majdanek in Lublin. The then president of the Republic of Poland, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, took part in the celebration of that event. For nearly 10 years, until the end of the year 2013, the Museum has been visited by over 300 thousand people, with foreign visitors consisting 20%. The conference programme
