The State Museum at Majdanek actively supports the new educational programme for trainees from different German companies who are sent to Polish institutions and organizations cooperating with the Association Action Reconciliation/Service for Peace. Its goal is to enable young people trained in German companies to broaden intellectual horizons, gain some experience abroad and acquire additional knowledge of the contemporary history of Germany.
15–22 April, two trainees from Daimler AG stayed in Lublin as part of the project. The programme of their stay at the Majdanek Museum included familiarizing with the history of the Lublin concentration camp as well as visiting the former camp and the exhibition “Prisoners of Majdanek.” They also had a possibility to expand their knowledge of the Majdanek camp on the basis of historical sources and memoirs of former prisoners. They were also familiarized with many different aspects of the Museum’s activity, including educational work through participation in historical workshops organized for the students from Darmstadt.
The German guests devoted one day of the project to visit the Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec and to learn the history of the former German extermination camp.
