Josek was a witness of his mother's deportation, and after being captured, he was taken to the railway station. In the end, the boy was selected for work and, he stayed with his father in a labor camp. They were both murdered in April 1944. Shortly after the end of the war, Sabina had their bodies exhumed and buried at the local Jewish cemetery. The teenage girl survived till liberation in several places: at her cousin's Ukrainian "wet nurse" in a bunker near one of the houses in Borysław, in a labor camp, and in a forest. After the war, she moved to Lower Silesia, and in 1948, she left Poland with her husband. She stayed in Paris for two years, and then in 1950, she left for Australia, where she gave birth to two children and achieved professional success.
