Free guided tours at the Museum in Bełżec

On 20 May, free guided tours of the historical exhibition and memorial site took place as part of the celebrations of the International Museum Day. The visitors also listened to the lecture “The extermination of Jews in the General Government. ‘Aktion Reinhardt’ camps” in the education hall.

International Museum Day (18 May) was initiated in 1977 by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) that is attached to UNESCO. On that day, numerous exhibitions, seminars and meetings are organized worldwide. Each year since 1992 that day has been celebrated under different title which is set out by the ICOM’s Advisory Council. This year’s celebration title was “Museums and Controversies. To say the unsaid at museums.”

Over 80 people took advantage of the offer prepared by the Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec within the International Museum Day.
