"Holocaust Testimonies" - beads

We present another artifact - beads.

I think of some impressions profoundly moving for me: of a little Jewish boy of 3 or 4 years who had a packet of strings for tying up the shoes by pairs put into his hand; of the way that, lost in a dream, he distributed the strings to the people; — or again, of a little bead chain which a little girl lost one meter from the entrance to the gas chamber. I recall that a little boy of perhaps three bent down to pick it up, what pleasure it gave him, and that he was afterwards pushed — no, in that instance he is gently urged — to make him go into the gas chamber.
