"Holocaust Testimonies" - nails

Nails

We started the work on November 1, 1941, with the construction of barracks next to the railway siding. One barrack was right next to the track. It was 50m long and 12.5 m wide. It was intended as the waiting room for Jews who would be employed in the camp. The second barrack, 25m long and 12.5 m wide, was for the Jews when they would go to the bathhouse. Next to that barrack, we built a third barrack with dimensions of 12m long by 8 m wide. That barrack was divided into three parts by a wooden wall, so each part was 4 m wide and 8 m long. The height of these parts was 2 m. The interior walls of this barrack were made in the following way: we nailed up planks and filled the empty space between them with sand.
