Appointed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for the 2011–2015 term of office, a new Museum Council of the State Museum at Majdanek was constituted. Its main tasks include assessment of the Museum activities and acknowledgement of its plans.

The session of the Council took place on December 8, 2015. It is made up of the following members: Zdzisław Badio, Anna Fic-Lazor, Michał Karapuda, Anna Krawczyk, Władysław Marek Kunicki-Goldfinger, Hubert Łaszkiewicz, Luba Matraszek, Andrzej Miskur, Adam Siwek, Andrzej Stępnik, Bogusław Szmygin, Jarosław Szymczyk, Jacek Welter and Anna Ziębińska-Witek. The nominations were handed over by the representatives of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage - Piotr Szpanowski i Jan Łazicki. The Council appointed Andrzej Stępnik for the Chairman. He works with the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, in the History Education and Cultural Heritage Department. He has been twice awarded by the Minister of National Education for his scientific publications.

After handing certificates of appointment, the Director of the State Museum at Majdanek Tomasz Kranz discussed the most important undertakings implemented by the Museum in 2015–2019. He focused mainly on the modernization of the museum infrastructure and exhibition, impressive number of publications and numerous scientific and educational projects. The session was closed with a discussion devoted to various aspects of the Museum activities, including erection of the new museum in Sobibór.
