International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust.
27 January marks the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec once again joined the celebration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The commemoration began with the opening of the photographic exhibition "Memorial as a form of restoring Memory" prepared by students from the Bernardo Morando State High School of Fine Arts in Zamość. Each photograph, each concept, is an expression of deep reflection and tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. This project could be realized thanks to the financial support of the German foundation Bildungswerk Stanislaw Hantz e.V.
After viewing the photographic exhibition, a memorial ceremony was held, attended by students of the Bernardo Morando State High School of Fine Arts in Zamość and young people from the Tadeusz Kosciuszko High School in Lubaczów. At the beginning, selected profiles of the victims of the Nazi German death camp in Bełżec were presented, and then the students lit the Lanterns of Remembrance in the Ohel Nishe. The ceremony commemorating the victims was a moment of reverie and reflection on the fate of those who perished in the death camp.
Even though most of the Holocaust victims do not have their graves, their memory continues to be passed down through the generations. Encourages actions for tolerance, peace, and respect for others.
