International Holocaust Remembrance Day
The German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated on 27 January 1945. In recognition of that event, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed it as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The Museum and Memorial in Bełżec and the Municipality of Bełżec invite you to join us in commemorating the victims of the Holocaust.
9:30 AM – Free Guided Tour
A guided tour of the museum exhibition and the Memorial site. This is an opportunity to learn about the history and the fate of the victims of the Bełżec extermination camp.
11:00 AM – Performative Reading: "Rudolf Reder and Others... The Bełżec Extermination Camp in Selected Accounts of Survivors and Polish Witness Testimonies."
Presented by the Banina Foundation from Warsaw and the Zamość Theatre Studio.
In the Museum’s screening room, there will be a performative reading of excerpts from the book The Bełżec Extermination Camp in Selected Accounts of Survivors and Polish Witness Testimonies, edited by Dariusz Libionka.

A performative reading is a unique artistic form combining elements of traditional reading with staging, designed to convey the emotions and drama inherent in the texts.
Following the reading, there will be a discussion with Museum staff, the actors, and the director.
12:30 PM – Lighting Candles and Laying a Wreath at the Ohel Niche.
In tribute to the victims of the Holocaust, participants will lay wreaths and light candles at the Ohel Niche. This moment of reflection will serve as a symbolic act of remembrance and respect for the millions of victims of the tragic events of World War II.
We encourage everyone to join in commemorating the victims of the Holocaust and reflecting on history and its relevance to the present day.
