LUBLINERS FROM ISRAEL VISITED THE MUSEUM
On August 16th, the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec hosted Lubliners from Israel. During the visit to the Museum, the guests got acquainted with the history of the Nazi German death camp in Bełżec and paid homage to those among the former Lublin residents who were murdered in the Bełżec death camp.
On March 17, 1942, the first transports of Jews arrived to the death camp in Bełżec. These deportations were the beginning of “Aktion Reinhardt. The operation began the day before with the liquidation of the ghetto in Podzamcze in Lublin. This is also where the first victims of mass extermination came from. In total, about 28.000 Jews were deported from Lublin to the German Nazi death camp in Bełżec.
