On October 22 and 23, 2014, post-graduate students of History Institute at Maria Skłodowska-Curie University in Lublin visited the State Museum at Majdanek. The visit was organized as part of the course named “Modern methods and techniques of running classes” run by Prof. Andrzej Stępnik.

On the first day, the seminar participants visited museum exhibitions considering their historical content and the ways of creating narration about the history of the concentration camp at Majdanek. With regard to the temporary exhibition “Prisoners of Majdanek,” educational aspects of museum presentation were discussed as well. The second day was dedicated to discussing educational activity of the Museum at Majdanek that is based on the active-reflective and communicational education model named pedagogy of remembrance. In the Archive, the post-graduate students were presented with selected documents and other historical sources in the context of educational purpose. What is more, they got acquainted with various types and methods of running museum classes, historical workshops and teaching materials used in the educational practice, including a publication called “Educational Packet. Classes for Students in the State Museum at Majdanek.”
