The State Museum at Majdanek and the Museum of Warsaw Rising invite to the promotion of the book issued by the Museum at Majdanek entitled “Museum Education in Poland. Aspects, Contexts, Perspectives,” ed. Wiesław Wysok and Andrzej Stępnik. It will be held in the Museum of Warsaw Rising on November 6, 2013, at 5 p.m.

Education is playing more and more vital role in the museum practice in Poland. However, just few museums have their own didactic concepts and work on this issue. It is reflected by a small amount of academic publications devoted to museum didactics and pedagogy. The newest book issued by the Museum, is an attempt to fill this gap and evaluate the state of the contemporary museum education, especially in the context of the museums – memorials. The book contains seven articles and an afterword. They present various aspects of Polish and world museum education and its tendencies. More about the book As a part of the book promotion a duscussion panel “The Present and Future of the Polish Museum Education” will be organized. It will be participated by: prof. dr hab. Barbara Wagner (Faculty of History of the Warsaw University), dr Renata Pater (Faculty of Pedagogics of the Jagiellonian University), Janusz Byszewski (Creative Education Lab of the the Centre for Contemporary Art – Ujazdów Castle), Małgorzata Żaryn (Museum of Polish History), dr Łukasz Michalski (Institute of National Remembrance), dr Karol Mazur (Museum of Warsaw Rising) – host. The invited guests and editors of the book will answer questions concerning the contemporary museum education and factors influencing its development. More details in the invitation
