Reminiscences of Majdanek by former prisoners. Classes for students
View photos
On May 14, the students of the Junior Secondary School No. 7 in Lublin took part in the museum lesson entitled “The world behind wires”. The classes made it possible not only to familiarise the students with the history of KL Lublin, but also to examine attitudes of people in “the world behind wires” – the inmates of the concentration camp at Majdanek.
The program started with the guided tour through the grounds of the former concentration camp that was organised within the didactic frame of the lesson. It enabled the students to familiarise themselves with the most important facts that concern KL Lublin. Then the film with statements of 13 people – the former prisoners of the camp, was displayed. It showed the prisoners community and different, sometimes even contradictory, attitudes and values. While watching the film, the students were asked to define the guiding subject of a given extract of the statements. Later on, they reflected on such values as friendship, courage, assistance and responsibility in current times in the context of their views and actions. The lesson ended with the exchange of experiences and discussion.
