During a press conference organized by the State Museum at Majdanek, the local journalists had an opportunity to learn about the paths of the Museum development and planned exhibitions, as well as academic and popularizing activities. The aim of the conference was to remind about the round anniversary of the Museum establishment and to highlight its role in the modern museum discourse.

Krzysztof Banach, the head of the Exhibition Department, revealed some details on the new temporary exhibition “Prisoners of Majdanek” that will be based on histories of individual prisoners. Agnieszka Kowalczyk-Nowak, Majdanek spokesperson, told about modernization works in the Visitor Service Centre. As a result of the renovation that finishes in August 2014, a new space for educational and popularizing activities will be created at Majdanek. Describing events related with the 70th anniversary of the Museum establishment, director Tomasz Kranz, stressed that it was an opportunity for the Museum to present its achievements to inhabitants of Lublin and its role as historical museum in Europe. “I believe that our activities, which are highly regarded abroad as proved by the poll organized by TripAdvisor website, show that we well fulfill our function as the Lublin Region ambassador, although we have never been awarded this title.”
