The newest museum publications



Books related to the history of Majdanek have been published under the imprint of the State Museum at Majdanek, including outline of its outline and an anthology of accounts by witnesses of the mass execution of November 3, 1943. On sale is also a publication on the museum education.

Edukacja muzealna w Polsce. Aspekty, konteksty, ujęcia, ed. Wiesław Wysokand Andrzej Stępnik The book contains seven articles and an afterword. They present various aspects of Polish and world museum education and its tendencies. They suggest also solutions, how to develop it. The authors, museologists and history educationalists, try to answer question if traditional museums can draw on the experience of museums – memorial sites, and vice versa. They ponder how history didactics can enrich museum practice. Professor Barbara Wagner writes in her review that “Museum Education in Poland…” is “[...] a professional and thorough work, conveying an academic message.” Krwawa środa. 3 listopada 1943 w pamięci świadków, ed. Kamila Czuryszkiewicz, Beata Siwek-Ciupak The book is an anthology of memoirs concerning the most tragic execution by firing squad in the history of concentration camps, resulting in death of about 18,000 Jews. The publication contains of 29 accounts by witnesses and survivors that are preceded with a short introduction. Beata Siwek-Ciupak, Majdanek. Zarys historii The publication is a compendium of the history of Konzentrationslager Lublin. It desbribes the most important aspects of the Majdanek camp functioning, including living conditions, labour, extermination or transports. It stresses also the multifunctional character of the camp. The publication contains archival photographs of KL Lublin and a plan of its construction.
