Unusual commemoration of Jews from Izbica deported to Bełżec

On October 20 and 21, 2014, the Association Bildungswerk Stanislaw Hantz eV from Germany, Comprehensive Primary and Secondary School Complex in Izbica and the Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec organized celebrations to commemorate the extermination of Jews from Izbica and Jews deported to Izbica between 1939 and 1942 from Częstochowa, Vienna, Frankfurt am Main and many others.
During the first day, students from the Comprehensive Primary and Secondary School Complexin Izbica who took part in the competition entitled "Will they come back ...? The way into the unknown" were given Robert Kuwałek awards. During the second day, youth participated in the historical workshops and the tour through the Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec. They were accompanied by a group of German and Dutch youngsters. A crucial point of the day was a ceremony in the area of the commemoration in Bełżec. Students read poems and lit candles around the inscription: IZBICA.
