Modernization works in the Visitor Service Centre have finished. Apart from that a new welcoming board has been erected at the entrance to the Museum. The investments provide new possibilities for the Museum educational and popularizing practice.
40 years after its construction, the Visitor Service Centre has been thoroughly altered. The works included, among many other things, thermomodernization of the building and installation of air-conditioning system. The biggest changes can be seen after crossing the threshold of the building. In the hall, from which unfolds the view of the former camp, the visitors can find a modern information point and bookshop. The participants in the educational projects will make use of education rooms with picture windows. Presentations, lectures and conferences will take place in a specially arranged lecture hall. The renovation works were conducted also in offices and toilets.
Renovation of the Visitor Service Centre is one of the most significant investments held as part of the modernization of the Majdanek museum infrastructure. In the years 2008-2014, over 13 million zloty in total were spent by the State Museum at Majdanek for modernization and renovation works.
