Young politicians from Brandenburg at Majdanek

View photos

Hosted by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, a group of young politicians from Brandenburg took part in a study visit to Poland on September 30 to October 3, 2013. Their Polish partners were politicians, scientists, journalists, and other representatives of social life. As part of their trip, the guests from Germany visited the State Museum at Majdanek as well. They were guided through the permanent historical exhibition, open-air exhibition, and temporary exhibition devoted to the displaced from the Zamość region.

The visit to the Museum at Majdanek was accompanied by debates and discussions on the new concept of open-air exhibitions, methods of the narrative about the past, modern remembrance culture, and the need to intensify Polish-German exchange in the context of memorial sites, especially youth exchange between the Lublin region and Brandenburg.
