Youth from Belarus commemorate Majdanek’s victims

On May 27, the group of Belarusian students of the Junior Secondary School No. 1 in Baranovichi, Belarus who take part in exchange with students from Secondary School No. 4 in Lublin visited the State Museum at Majdanek.
During the stay in the Museum the group visited the area of the former camp and the historical exhibition. Thematic guided tour was oriented on the history oftransports coming to Majdanek from Belarus and fates of underage Belarusian prisoners of the Concentration Camp at Majdanek. Participants got to know the fate of the Kiriszczenko family and history of Belarusian children’ commando organized by Polish political prisoner Helena Kurcyuszowa.
Educational classes at the State Museum at Majdanek were the part of the students’ exchange project patronized by the Centre for Educational Development and the Ministry of National Education within the frame of “Democracy at school” programme. It wasimplemented by the Ministry of National Education and Centre for Educational Development in cooperation with the European Wergeland Centre and Council of Europe five years ago.
