On May 26, the Museum - Memorial Site in Bełżec was visited by participants of the 37th Conference of the Polish-German Textbook Commission of UNESCO Historians and Geographers entitled ‘Second World War in historical education in Poland and Germany: knowledge, teaching methods and forms of presentation’, which took place in Zamość.

The next ebook is now available in our museum bookshop. Publication “Zur Pädagogik der Erinnerung. Bedingungen, Ziele und Methoden historischer Bildung in Gedenkstätten“ [Pedagogy of remembrance. Determinants, aims and methods of historical education in memorial sites], ed. Tomasz Kranz, is intended for museologists, teachers and other persons involved in social and political education.

On May 22, 2018, the celebrations of the 76th anniversary of the largest deportation of Jews from the ghetto in Tomaszów Lubelski were organized.

Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec prepared a new museum lesson for students from the secondary and high schools.

The Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec was visited by the participants of the training for directors and managers of cultural institutions from the Lublin Voivodeship, organised by Regional Culture Centre in Lublin and the Commune Cultural Centre in Susiec.

The exhibition ‘Res non humana – an inhuman thing. German occupation of Zamość region 1939-1944’ in the Stanisław Kostka Starowieyski Secondary School in Łaszczów.

On April 19, 2018, the project ‘Żonkile’ [Daffodils] was fulfilled within the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which refers to the 75th anniversary of Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. This project was organized by Pedagogical Library of Zamość, division in Tomaszów Lubelski in collaboration with the Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec. The students from the B. Głowacki School no. 1 in Tomaszów Lubelski participated in the project.

In the High School in Lubaczów, as the part of the Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorating the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, educational workshops were held.

On March 19, 2018, the 76th anniversary of the beginning of "Aktion Reinhardt" was marked at the Museum - Memorial Site in Bełżec.

On March 16 in the Faculty of Humanities of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, we have prepared two open lectures on the 76th anniversary of the beginning of "Aktion Reinhardt." The event attracted huge audience which is a proof of big interest in this difficult part of history.

On 27 February the meeting of the Museum Board of the State Museum at Majdanek took place. By unanimous vote, the board members adopted Museum’s activity report for 2017 as well as a work plan for the next year.

On 19 February, Rolf Nikel, the Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of Poland, visited the Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec.

On 9 February 2018 the youth from Italy visited the Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec.

At the Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec, educational classes for youth on the extermination of Galician Jews were organised, as part of the 10th celebrations of the Holocaust Remembrance Day in Podkarpackie Voivodeship.

The number of people who visited the State Museum at Majdanek in the last five years increased by nearly 50%. In 2017, 239,149 people came to the institution.

The State Museum at Majdanek took part in the “Accessible Culture” programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage for the third time. This year, 101 groups of primary and secondary school students from all over Poland participated in the free museum lessons organized by the Majdanek Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec.

The exhibition “Res non humana – an inhuman thing. Nazi occupation of the Zamość region between 1939-1944” presented on 7-30 of November 2017 in the reading room of the Pedagogical Library in Tomaszów Lubelski was accompanied by educational classes organized for the youth.

On 26 October 2017, the ceremony commemorating Roma and Sinti, the victims of German Nazi labour camp that operated in 1940, took place in Bełżec.

On October 2 the temporary exhibition “Res non humana – inhuman thing. The German occupation of the Zamość Region 1939-1944” prepared by the Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec was made available for the visitors of the Tomaszów Lubelski Cultural Center.

Articles by historians, art historians, culture experts, sociologists and museum pedagogues from Poland, Germany and Austria are included in the newest publication issued by the State Museum at Majdanek.

On 18 August, a group of girls scouts cleaned the memorial to Roma and Sinti who died or were murdered in the labour camp in Bełżec in 1940. They took also part in educational classes organized by the Museum - Memorial Site in Bełżec.

On 24–27 July 2017 the State Museum at Majdanek together with The House of the Wannsee Conference organized a workshop for teachers from Polish and German schools. The teachers were presented with methods and forms of out-of-school education used at the State Museum at Majdanek that allowed them for better preparation of their students for visits at the post-camp memorial sites and development of their own methods of work during regular lessons.

On July 7, 2017, in the Memorial and Museum in Bełżec, a study trip was held for German youth from the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium in Bensberg.

Marking the 13th anniversary of the opening of the Museum – Memorial Site in Bełżec (June 3, 2004), the students of the School Complex in Łukawica took part in the educational workshops.
