Session of the Council of the State Museum at Majdanek

    View photos

On February 27 the last session of the MuseumCouncil in this term took place. The Chairman of the Council, Prof. Andrzej Stępnik, summed up the results of the Museum work during the past 4 years: “I would like to notice that the Museum advanced as a centre of research on contemporary history, as well as history teaching. This period of time was very fruitful. Universities are going through a severe slump – there are no funds, students turn their back on history, there are only few World War II historians (…). The Museum took over many research tasks that earlier were assigned to universities. I was impressed when I participated in the promotion of the journal ‘Zeszyty Majdanka.’ These publications differ from those in bookstores – these are erudite research papers.”
