THE MUSEUM AND MEMORIAL IN BEŁŻEC WAS FOUNDED ON THE SITE OF THE FORMER GERMAN NAZI EXTERMINATION CAMP. THE INSTITUTION WAS ESTABLISHED ON 1 JANUARY 2004 AS A BRANCH OF THE STATE MUSEUM AT MAJDANEK AND SERVES AS A MEMORIAL TO THE VICTIMS OF THE HOLOCAUST.
The mission of the Museum is to build historical awareness, counteract forgetting, and support dialogue and reflection. Through exhibitions, educational programs, publications, and a continuous presence in the public sphere, the Museum promotes knowledge about the German Nazi extermination camp in Bełżec and its victims.
