On 26 May 2025, an educational conference titled “Bełżec – the first center of immediate extermination established as part of Operation ‘Reinhardt’” was held at the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec. It was aimed at secondary school teachers and students.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Teacher Training Centre of the Local Government of the Lublin Region in Lublin, together with its branch in Zamość, as well as the Pedagogical Library in Zamość. The conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship.

The aim of the conference was an in-depth historical analysis of the functioning of the extermination camp in Bełżec, its role within Operation “Reinhardt,” and reflection on education in sites of memory. The programme included various educational activities as well as a guided visit to the grounds of the former German Nazi extermination camp.

Students took part, among others, in a workshop titled “In Sealed Wagons Travel the Names Across the Country…,” while teachers attended a lecture titled “The Life of Bełżec Residents in the Shadow of the Jewish Extermination Camp.”

The conference became an important educational forum, fostering historical awareness and shaping attitudes of remembrance toward the victims of the Holocaust.

Educational banners (roll-ups) are visible next to the screen.
