On September 23rd, the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec organized a seminar "History - Education - Memory" - this is the third event whose aim is to present topics from the history of World War II, concerning the extermination of Jews, as well as museums in post-camp memorial sites. This year's seminar was held in September as part of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.

From September 14 to 16, Poland hosted an official delegation from 13 most important institutions dealing with museums and places important to the memory of the Holocaust in France. The delegation included, among others, representatives of Memorial de la Shoah, The Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah, National Office for Veterans and Victims of War, Rivesaltes Memorial Museum, Foundation of the Camp des Milles, The Maison d'Izieu Memorial.

On August 16th, the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec hosted Lubliners from Israel. During the visit to the Museum, the guests got acquainted with the history of the Nazi German death camp in Bełżec and paid homage to those among the former Lublin residents who were murdered in the Bełżec death camp.

On July 8th, 2019 Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec hosted a group of participants of the postgraduate studies "Totalitarianism—Nazism—Holocaust" organized by the Auschwitz Museum in collaboration with the Pedagogical University of Kraków. The visits to the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec are cyclical. This is another edition of postgraduate studies in which we partner up with.

The Museum and Memorial Site in Belzec is an institution directly subordinated to the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The unit was established in December 2003 as the Museum-Memorial Site in Bełżec as a branch of the State Museum at Majdanek. Since 2018, the institution has been functioning as the “Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec. The Nazi German Extermination Camp (1942–1943). Branch of the State Museum at Majdanek”.

On May 24th, the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec hosted members of the "Janów" Association from Israel. Their stay in Poland was connected with the ceremony of unveiling the plaque that commemorate Jews murdered in Janów Lubelski during the Holocaust. During the visit to the Museum, the guests got acquainted with the history of the Nazi German death camp in Bełżec. They also have learned the story of Chaim Hirszman’s life, who was from Janów.

As part of cooperation between the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec and the Penitentiary Facility in Zamość, on the 17th of May first historical lecture for prisoners were held. The aim of joint programme of museum workers and prison service is to form proper moral and social attitude through teaching the history of Nazi German death camps.

On the 15th of May the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec together with the Tomaszów Lubelski Branch of the Pedagogical Library in Zamość and Bartosz Głowacki Secondary School Complex No. 1 in Tomaszów Lubelski participated in annual socio-educational action “Żonkile" (Daffodils). This edition coincided with the 76th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and the Holocaust Memorial Day.

A few years of cooperation between the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec and Jan Zaomoyski Secondary School in Zamość resulted in great project that is held regularly during the spring. This year the meeting took place on 29th April. As part of the project, we organize interactive activities for young people entitled “History and annihilation of Jews from the area of Zamość”.

On March 26, Tomasz Kranz, director of the State Museum at Majdanek, and Albert Stankowski, director of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum, signed a cooperation agreement. The cooperation will include scientific and educational activities, and incorporate the research and dissemination of knowledge about the Holocaust and the fate of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto and surrounding cities murdered in the Nazi German camps at Majdanek and in Bełżec and Sobibór.

77 years ago, on the March 17th, 1942, Nazi Germany started physical extermination of the Jews living on the territory of the General Government with deportations from Lublin to Lvov. These deportations were the beginning of ‘Aktion Reinhardt’.

European Day of the Righteous among the Nations was established in 2012 by European Parliament in order to commemorate those who, risking their lives saved Jews during World War II. Nowadays there are 6863 Poles honoured with the medal of Righteous among the Nations. Their names in The Avenue of the Righteous on the premises of Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem constitute the biggest group of the awarded among various nationalities.
