Over 30 events, among them publication of a historical comic, academic conferences, reunion of families of Majdanek prisoners, meetings with witnesses or unveiling of a mural. These are the events which we will held in 2019.

European Day of the Righteous among the Nations was established in 2012 by European Parliament in order to commemorate those who, risking their lives saved Jews during World War II. Nowadays there are 6863 Poles honoured with the medal of Righteous among the Nations. Their names in The Avenue of the Righteous on the premises of Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem constitute the biggest group of the awarded among various nationalities.

February 1, the youth from the Primary School No. 1 of Henryk Sienkiewicz in Przemyśl and School-nursery complex of Pope John Paul II in Bełżec paid respect to the victims of the Holocaust.

On January 9, the youth from Warstein in Germany visited the former transit ghetto in Izbica as well as the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec as a part of a study tour ’Spurensuche Nationalsozialismus’.

From year-to-year, we notice a stronger interest in the museum lessons organised by the Education Department of the State Museum at Majdanek and the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec. In 2018, there were organised around 120 museum classes at the museum. Almost 3500 primary, middle and high school students from the whole Poland attended the lessons.

On November 7, employees of the Museum and Memorial Site in Bełżec took part in the opening of the temporary exhibition ‘Res non humana – an Inhuman Thing. German Occupation of the Zamość Region 1939-1944’ at the Stefan Batory Primary School No. 4.

On November 4, we organized in cooperation with the Lublin Philharmonic a symphonic concert “In Memory of the Holocaust Victims.” The unique concert closed the series of events commemorating the 75th anniversary of the extermination of Jews committed by the Third Reich in 1942-1943 under the codename “Aktion Reinhardt.”

The State Museum at Majdanek and the Henryk Wieniawski Lublin Philharmonic cordially invite on 4 November, 6 pm., to symphonic concert “In Memory of the Holocaust Victims.” It is organized on the 75th anniversary of operation “Erntefest” (“Harvest Festival”), in course of which on 3-4 November 1943 Germans shot 42 thousand Jews in the concentration camp at Majdanek and in labor camps in Trawniki and Poniatowa.

In the State Museum at Majdanek, the third edition of methodological training for extracurricular historical education in post-camp memorial sites took place. It was so popular that we have organized it twice: on 6 and 20 October. It was participated by over 100 teachers and educators from all over Poland.

Theory and practice of education in martyrological museums', edited by Tomasz Kranz, contains materials from the international conference organised by the State Museum at Majdanek in October 2017.

On August 23, 2018, teachers and educators from France visited the Museum - Memorial Site in Bełżec. The French came to Poland as a part of an educational program prepared by Memorial de la Shoah in Paris in cooperation with several Polish institutions.

Students from the State Police School in Hamburg visited a few museums and historical sites commemorating the victims of World War II and Nazi crimes. Their visit was related to the events from 76 years, when the Hamburg Reserve Police Battalion 101 started its monstrous activity in the Zamość region.
