On the International Holocaust Remembrance Day we invoke the memory of the six million Jewish women, children and men – victims of transports, inhuman living conditions in the locked ghettos, executions, manhunts, round-ups, extermination in the gas chambers. The central and the most bloody stage of the Holocaust was perpetrated in the General Government under the codename “Einsatz Reinhardt.”

The German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated on 27 January 1945. In recognition of that event, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed it as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It constitutes an opportunity to even more eagerly reflect on the tragic fate of Jews – victims of hatred murdered during World War II – as well as on the current situation of humanity in the 21st century.

This week, an open-air photography workshop was organized on the Museum grounds for students of the Bernardo Morando State High School of Fine Arts in Zamość. The young people learned about the history of the former extermination camp and the symbolism of the monumental establishment that was created on the post-camp grounds.

This fall the Museum and Memorial Site in Belzec held a series of four meetings with inmates at the Penitentiary Institutions in Zamość, Hrubieszow, and Chelm, as well as the Detention Center in Krasnystaw.

Recently we finished our nearly two-year-long campaign of commemorating the 80th anniversary of operation "Reinhardt." Between March 2022 and November 2023 we held nearly 50 various projects and activities that aimed at raising awareness about the genocide of nearly 2,000,000 Jews.

On 26 October 2023, a ceremony commemorating the Roma and Sinti, victims of the 1940 Belzec labor camp, was held in Belzec.

On 24 October 2023, the Museum and Memorial Site in Belzec was visited by teachers, educators and employees of cultural institutions who came as part of a study tour organized by the The Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies. The visit was held within the framework of the Robert Kuvalek seminar entitled. "The Holocaust in Western Ukraine and Eastern Poland".

On 26 September 2023, students from the I Społeczne Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Unii Europejskiej in Zamosc, together with history teacher Marek Kołcon and young people from Germany, commemorated Berta Wolf, who was deported from Dortmund to Zamosc.

On September 20, the Belzec Museum and Memorial Site was visited by a delegation from the Jan Karski Institute for War Losses.

On September 16, a meeting was held at the Museum and Memorial Site in Belzec to discuss the story of Dr. Ignacy Weiss, a doctor from Lubycza Krolewska, and his family.

We present our new book in which we analyse "Einsatz Reinhardt" – the largest and the most bloody genocidal operation of World War II, focusing on its logistics and the extermination apparatus.

At 5 p.m. on 20 June we invite everyone to the Majdanek, Bełżec, and Sobibór memorials for a special discussion: “The Landscapes of the Holocaust - the importance of the Lublin region in the history and commemoration of the mass extermination of Jews during World War II.” The root for the discussion, during which we will symbolically connect three memorial sites of operation “Reinhardt” camps, is the premiere of our new book.

Young people from the First High School in Stalowa Wola joined in this year's celebration of the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camps.

On June 5, the sixth seminar "History - Education - Memory" was held, dedicated to historians, teachers, and regionalists. The meeting was held on the 19th anniversary of the Museum and Memorial Site opening in Belzec.

Students from the United States visited the Belzec Museum and Memorial Site as part of the 4th Presidential Internship. The young people learned about the history of the former German death camp in Belzec, and laid a wreath at the Nisha Ohel paying tribute to the victims of Nazi crimes.

Another edition of the Night of Museums received interest from visitors to the Belzec Memorial Site.

On April 28, young charges of the Voluntary Labour Corps in Tomaszów Lubelski took part in a workcamp organized by the Museum and Memorial Site in Belzec.

The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising broke out on April 19, 1943. On the anniversary of the heroic uprising, a cyclical social and educational campaign "Daffodils" was carried out.

On April 19, 2023, we engaged in the "Daffodil" action. As part of the commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day, falling on the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The meeting was organized by the Municipal Public Library in Lubaczow in cooperation with the Museum and Memorial Site in Belzec.

On the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, the Tomaszow Lubelski City Council, headed by Mayor Wojciech Żukowski; youth from the High School No. 2 in Tomaszow Lubelski; and city residents commemorated the victims of the Holocaust.

On the Holocaust Remembrance Day we present the new issue of our "Varia" magazine. This volume is dedicated to the subject of education at the State Museum at Majdanek, particularly to the Holocaust education.
